Our Story

What is more important than communication? Think for a moment, what would the world feel like without sounds. Sounds make up whispers, laughter, favorite songs and conversation. From business opportunities to essential “life and death” needs, at the center of every relationship and opportunities, hearing well makes an impact that is not often seen.

Hearing our best is about quality of life and enhancing human connection. Reduced hearing can affect one’s mental health status, concentration efforts and fatigue, and even our own cognition and brain health. The consequences are priceless both socially and economically. Sadly, for some people, hearing difficulties often go untreated and undiagnosed. When financial needs place a barrier for treatment, Hearing the Call provides an amazing opportunity to touch and transform lives. PA Hearing and Tinnitus Center aims to serve every individual and allow every patient to live to their full potential, regardless of income. We partner with this amazing non-profit project to make sure everyone is fully included in the conversation.

Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;
But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;
But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn’t believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.”

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide hearing healthcare to individuals in Central Pennsylvania including Union, Snyder, Columbia, Montour counties, and surrounding areas who cannot afford it on their own, while providing them with opportunities to give back to the community through service to others. We also provide hearing healthcare globally to those in need.

Our Vision

Our vision is to improve the quality of life of low-income individuals in our community with hearing loss, through affordable hearing healthcare, and to create a “circle of giving” whereby the recipient of our services gives back to the community through service and gain a greater purpose while doing so.

Our Promise

Our promise is to maintain the integrity of all individuals we serve and help them to live their best life through better hearing. We provide hearing testing, and fit, and maintain hearing aids for low-income individuals and under-served families in Central Pennsylvania as well as globally.

The Need

1 in 5 Americans suffer from hearing loss to an extent that interferes with communication. Hearing loss is an invisible ailment that often goes unrecognized, untreated, and underfunded by state and federal programs. Medicare and most insurance carriers do not cover the cost of hearing aids or the necessary programming and follow-up care by audiologists. Hearing aids typically cost $3000-$6000 per pair, which makes access to care difficult for low-income individuals.

Our Give Back Model

We are not a free clinic. We operate on a reduced fee schedule to make hearing healthcare affordable for individuals and families with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty level. Qualified participants will show proof of financial need, pay a small fee for their new hearing devices, and give back volunteer hours in our community as a way to say “Thank You” to local businesses, families and friends who are donating for their care.
