Our Story

In January 2020, Alabama Hearing Associates joined Entheos Audiology Cooperative, a group of audiologists around the country who provide high quality hearing healthcare to those in need, both locally and globally. For several years we have partnered with CASA of Madison County to provide hearing aids to low-income elderly patients, but with the help of Entheos and it’s non-profit fundraising arm, Hearing the Call, we are extending our reach to all income-eligible adults in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Hearing the Call – Rocket City is the only non-profit project in north Alabama bridging the gap between quality hearing healthcare and those in need.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide sustainable hearing healthcare to adults in Huntsville and Madison County who cannot afford it on their own, while also providing them with opportunities to give back to our community through service to others.

Our Vision

Hearing is what connects us to family, friends, and co-workers. Untreated hearing loss creates a barrier to effective communication and is closely tied to changes in cognition, cardiovascular function, diabetes, balance/falls, and more. Connecting with others every day is critical for long-term health! We believe that no one should be prevented from full participation in life due to untreated hearing loss.

Our Promise

Through our non-profit project, Hearing the Call – Rocket City, we will provide audiological testing, hearing aids, and ongoing hearing support to income eligible individuals in our community. We will also provide hearing healthcare globally to those in need.

The Need

1 in 5 Americans suffer from hearing loss to an extent that interferes with communication. Hearing loss is an invisible ailment that often goes unrecognized, untreated, and underfunded by state and federal programs. Medicare and most insurance carriers do not cover the cost of hearing aids or the necessary programming and follow-up care by audiologists. Hearing aids typically cost $3000-$6000 per pair, which makes access to care difficult for low-income individuals.

Our Services

  • Reduced Fee, Sliding Scale Hearing Clinic for families with incomes up to 250% Federal Poverty Level
  • Hearing Aid Donation Program collects used hearing aids for use on missions, non-profit work, repairs or credit towards better technology
  • Loaner Hearing Aid Program for Cancer and Hospice patients.
  • International Hearing Missions

Our Give Back Model

We are not a free clinic. We operate on a reduced fee schedule to make hearing healthcare affordable for individuals and families with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty level. Qualified participants will show proof of financial need, pay a small fee for their new hearing devices, and give back volunteer hours in our community as a way to say “Thank You” to local businesses, families, and friends who are donating for their care.
